FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT GRADES ARE YOU ACCEPTING?: For the 2020-2021 school year, we are accepting 6th through 11th grade.
WILL I GET PRIORITY IF I SUBMIT THE APPLICATION IN SEPTEMBER?:
No. Although we encourage applications to be submitted early so that your teacher has time to submit a recommendation, all applications will be thoughtfully considered regardless of when they are submitted. Admissions are not based on first-come-first-served.
SHOULD I ATTEND A SCHOOL TOUR?:
We HIGHLY recommend that you sing up for a school tour BEFORE you submit your application so you are sure GALA is a good fit for your family and your daughter. See our school tour page to make a reservation. If tours are sold out, we will add tours, as needed. You can also attend any tour by signing up on the "stand by" list and open seats will be given to that list. In past years, we have been able to accommodate all stand-by families.

PARENT/GUARDIAN SECTION: Please fill in the top section of application. PLEASE check and re-check that you entered your email address and phone number correctly. All communication will come via e-mail so if your email is not correct, we can not contact you with acceptance or wait list status.
TEACHER RECOMMENDATION SECTION: The teacher recommendation section is required for admission.
As soon as you click "submit" on your application, an email is sent to the teacher with instructions and a link to the online recommendation form.
PLEASE follow up with your teacher to be sure she has received and submitted the recommendation form. If your teacher can not find their email with the recommendation link, please have them check their SPAM folder.
Please choose an "Academic" teacher and please choose a teacher that knows your daughter well. You may choose last year's teacher (for example, if your 4th grade teacher knows your daughter more than the 5th grade one).
CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK THE SPELLING OF YOUR TEACHER EMAIL AND DOUBLE CHECK THE EXTENSION (.COM, .NET ETC). EVERY YEAR, APPLICATIONS ARE NOT COMPLETE (NO TEACHER RECOMMENDATION) BECAUSE PARENTS SUBMITTED THE INCORRECT EMAIL ADDRESS. NOTE: LAUSD is .net.
STUDENT SECTION: Parents, please allow your student to fill this section out on their own.
SUBMIT: You can start the form and then save your form for later. An email will be sent to you with a link to go back and complete your form.
Your application is NOT valid unless you click "PREVIEW SUBMISSION" and then the "SUBMIT" button at the end of the application form.
We recommend that you type out responses in a word processing document and then when you are ready, cut and paste your answers so you fill out the application and submit at the same time.
ERRORS: If you get an error because you forgot to fill in a field, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Go Back" in order to make your changes. Then click "Preview" and then "Submit".
BIRTHDATE: If you are getting an error on the date, type it in mm/dd/yyyy
TROUBLESHOOTING: If you are having any issues, scroll to the bottom and hit "go back" OR "Save for later". Copy that link and paste into a new window to edit. Always hit "Got Back" as opposed to hitting your "back" browser arrow.
CONFIRMATION: A copy of your application will be sent to your email as soon as you hit "submit". If you did not receive it, check your SPAM folder.
YOUR APPLICATION: We know finding the right school for your daughter can be a lengthy process. If you submit an application to GALA and then make other school plans, please let us know ASAP so that we may open your application consideration to another family.
DATA: All data collected is for internal school use only for reviewing applications to GALA. The admissions committee consists of all LAUSD employees, including administrators and teachers.
