WELCOME!

Thank you for your interest in GALA, where girls love to be smart, self-confident, and successful! GALA is the only all-girls public (that's free!) STEM school in LAUSD and California. We are a public school serving girls in Los Angeles 6th-12th grades. admission season

2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

We are full and are not accepting any more submissions for any grades. If your student is on the waiting list, we do not anticipate adding any additional students for 2024-2025. LAUSD does not roll over wait lists from year to year so if you are interested in applying for another year, you do need to complete the admissions process again for the new grade level.

2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR

Families must have submitted the LAUSD eChoices application and indicated GALA as your school choice by November 15, 2024. GALA does not consider late applications. LAUSD is changing the GALA application process. The former title of "Application Criteria Schools" changed to "Unique Educational Pathway" schools. As LAUSD transitions to this new category, they will confirm the new eligibility criteria for your child to be considered for selection. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure that all requirements are met. Information on any additional requirements will be emailed to parents the week of December 2, 2024. GALA does not have any additional information at this time.

Due the volume of students interested in GALA, we are not able to accommodate "shadow days" or private tours.

who should consider gala?

COLLEGE PREP: GALA is a 6th through 12th grade public school within LAUSD and provides a highly rigorous college preparatory education in an all-girls environment. Applicants should be ready and willing to accept the demands of a challenging academic course load.

STEM: Our focus is science, technology, engineering and mathematics with particular emphasis on computer technology. We also believe the humanities and arts are vital to a well-rounded education. We do have some arts classes but we are NOT and "art" school.

ALL GIRLS: GALA is an environment that is exclusively devoted to the education of young women. Our all-girls environment fosters collaboration between the school community, girls and their families. GALA’s core values of excellence, leadership, and wellness are instilled throughout every facet of the school. GALA is also a "uniform" school and uniforms are worn daily. GALA's only free-dress day is Halloween.

LAUSD: GALA is an LAUSD "Unique Educational Pathway/Program" School, not a charter and not a Magnet. GALA is open to all girls within LAUSD and outside of LAUSD by permit. If you live within the LAUSD boundaries, even if you don't attend an LAUSD school, you do not need a permit.  If you live outside of the LAUSD boundaries, you will need a permit. You do NOT need to obtain a permit until you are accepted and plan to enroll at GALA. You contact your current school system first to apply for a permit. Then you contact the LAUSD permit office. This is the responsibility of the parent to secure. You do not need a permit in order to submit an LAUSD application or a GALA questionnaire.

“As the first graduating class of 2020, we liked to refer to ourselves as guinea pigs, as we were the first to do everything (in High School) at GALA. As a brand new school, there wasn't a path for us to follow, so instead, we paved one for ourselves. Now, we take that experience out into the world as innovators and pioneers. And those same girls I sat with on the first day at GALA are now heading out to amazing colleges to be doctors, scientists, and world leaders.”

- Class of 2020 Valedictorian
