KNOTTS BERRY FARM - 9TH GRADE
9th Graders visted Knotts to explore life in the 1800s.
COURTHOUSE - 9TH GRADE
The 9th graders visited the Los Angeles County courthouse and met in small groups with lawyers, judges, and other officials to explore professions in the justice field as well as learn how the courhouse functions.
SACRAMENTO WOMEN IN STEM
Several of our 9th Grade students were invited by Senator Holly Mitchell to attend Women and Girls in STEM event in Sacramento! We are so proud of our girls for representing GALA! See video of our girls supporting Senator Mitchell below!
GREYSTONE MANSION - ARCHITECTURE - 6TH GRADE
After completing a Classical Architecture series, the 6th grade toured the historic, Greystone Mansion to learn about the architecture and to even spend time sketching the ornate details of the building.
"ALVIN AILEY" AT THE DOROTHY CHANDLER PAVILLION
After studying about Alivin Ailey and his legacy in dance history and with his company, the entire 6th grade attended the Alivin Ailey Company at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion.
"HIDDEN FIGURES" SCREENING AT USC
Our entire school was invited to a screening of "Hidden Figures" with inspiring speeches by Pharrell Williams, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae, live footage from the International Space Station with a message from astonaut, Peggy Whitson, and Dr. Kanotokie Ford from The White House, JPL, and NASA! GETTY HOUSE WITH MAYOR GARCETTI
GALA was invited to an event at Mayor Garcetti's house, where it was announced that GALA has been asked to partner with the SPARK program.
USC WOMEN IN ENGINEERING
GALA was invited to USC's Women in Engineering event!.
JET PROPULSION LAB (JPL) - 6TH GRADE
GALA learned about space, travel to Mars, climate control, etc.

With the support of Senator Holly Mitchell, GALA's entire 9th grade attended the NASA/JPL Climate Day activities at the Pasadena Convention Center. Students learned about JPL's weather satellites and how we are able to track climate change effects.

GALA's 9th Grade AP Bio class got first-person view of UCLA's genetics lab.
UCLA AP BIOLOGY READINESS WORKSHOPS - 9TH GRADE
AP Biology students attend AP Biology Readiness workshops at UCLA about one Saturday per month. They learn test-taking strategies and review college level content in order to be better prepared for the AP Biology Exam in May.
