The GALA Uniform Policy is designed to instill pride in our school, provide safety, comfort, and equity among our diverse population of girls. As a school, we believe in our girls’ freedom of expression and strive to provide many other pathways for them to communicate that right.

MIDDLE SCHOOL TIE: Purple/Lavender. For Middle School, we recommend buying the smaller, pre-tied tie at Michael's Uniforms at www.michaeluniforms.com. They are located near LaBrea/Manchester.

3) UNIFORM: The rest of the uniform is either your regular Lands End or MIchaels skirt/skort/pants and your Lands End/Michaels cardigan (zip or button or pullover) sweater with logo. No hoodies (zip or pulllover) with the dress uniform.

All registered GALA girls signed a Uniform Policy form. Below are some of the items not allowed. Not every item is listed.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE CORRECT PANT. NO GRAY JEANS. IF YOUR PANTS HAVE AN EXTERIOR STITCHED POCKET ON THE BACK, THEY ARE NOT APPROVED.

WHEN SHOULD I ORDER?
We can not stress this enough... buy your uniforms BEFORE July 1st for Lands End and Michael's uniforms. For Lands End, if you order after July 1, orders can take up to 6 weeks to arrive. For Michael's, if you must go after July 1st, go first thing in the morning. Otherwise, you will experience long lines and delays.

HOW MANY OF EACH ITEM SHOULD I BUY?
it is really up to you and your family. PE is every other day so you won't have PE more than 3 times in 1 week. Some families buy 5 of each item so they just have to do laundry on the weekend and some buy 2 and do laundry more often.

WHERE DO I BUY THESE UNIFORMS?
LANDS END: Online at www.landsend.com using GALA School Uniform code 900174764. Don’t ever pay full price - Land End ALWAYS has a sale. Get on their email list and they will send you discount codes (up to 50% off!). You can also call their customer service number for coupon codes.
MICHAELS UNIFORMS: The only approved brick and mortar store is Michael's Uniforms. www.michaeluniforms.com and they are a brick and mortar store located near LaBrea/Manchester.

HOW CAN I TRY THEM ON BEFORE I BUY?
LANDS END: We will have some sample sizes for Lands End at Registration Day but you will not be able to try them on.
MICHAELS UNIFORMS: You can try on the approved uniforms at their location. Please visit BEFORE JULY as there are long lines in August.
WHAT ABOUT SIZING?
LANDS END: They will return any item for a full refund… even items with logos. To avoid return shipping charges, you can return items to any Sears. Lands End stock sizes go up to a Women’s size 20 or you can purchase larger polo shirts in Men’s sizes. If you need a plus size, Lands End can special order any size. For polo shirts, the "Fem Fit" is a more narrow fit.
Lands End Box Skirt: These run big so order 1 size smaller than normal. The skort runs to size.
MICHAELS: They go up to a Women's size 20 but can special order any size. They make 1 "fit" in their polos - standard.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE THE UNIFORMS MADE OUT OF?
In your registration packet, you will see a breakdown of all materials, sizes, and prices.
LANDS END: Polos are cotton. Interlock Polo is a soft cotton and Performance Mesh is the textured pique. Other items are mostly cotton or a blend. They are a high quality fabric and withstand hundreds of washings.
MICHAELS: Their polos are a cotton/poly blend, pants are cotton/spandex, skort is poly, sweater is acrylic.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY ORDER?
Due to the supply chain delays and shortages, this is approximate.
LANDS END: Because our shirts, jackets, and sweaters must have an embroidered logo, Lands End can sometimes take 2-3 weeks to get logo items. If you order between July 1st and the first day of school, it can take 4-6 weeks. We highly recommend ordering BEFORE July 1st so you can return items that don’t fit in time for the first day of school.
MICHAELS: Skort/pants can be purchased off the rack. They do their own embroidery on site. If you know your sizes, call ahead and they will have it ready when you arrive. If there is a large order of uniforms ready for pick-up from various families, they will deliver to school.

CAN I BUY GRAY JEANS OR SKIRTS FROM OTHER RETAILERS?
No. It takes cooperation from every family to adhere to the uniform code. The preferred retailer is Lands End. The ONLY other approved retailer is Michael's Uniforms in Inglewood. No jeans, no skinny pants, no “cords”, no cargo pants, no holes, no other outside retailers. If you need plus-size options, Lands End will special order any size or please contact the office.

ARE THERE 2 DIFFERENT COLOR POLOS?
High School: They can wear white or purple.
Middle School: Purple only.
WHAT ABOUT LEGGINGS WHEN IT’S COLD?
Your daughter may wear dark gray leggings under skirts (no leggings under shorts). You can get your leggings on the Lands End website or at one of the links HERE.

CAN MY DAUGHTER WEAR A JACKET WHEN RAINY OR COLD?
Yes! Michaels Uniforms has a black logo jacket OR you can wear any plan black puffer jacket in inclement weather only. Jackets must be taken off inside the classroom. Black sweatshirt-type jackets and leather jackets are not allowed.

WHAT ABOUT SOCKS AND SHOES?
Any brand socks as long as they are solid gray or white (short or knee socks) with no patterns. For convenience, you can find links HERE. Any color closed-toed sneakers or shoes with laces. FLAT boots in inclement weather ONLY. Sneakers must be worn on PE days. No sandals, no flip flops, no heels at any time.
WHAT ABOUT PE UNIFORMS?
P.E. Uniforms are sold through the GALA student store on school days and at Registration Day and Orientation.

I NEED A "PLUS" OR HUSKY SIZE:
Lands End: They will special order any size (for an extra fee).
Michaels: They carry pants in "husky" and in Women's sizes up to a size 20 and can special order any size.

HOW DO I GET THE TIE?:
Michaels uniforms has a new thinner, pre-tied tie in the Middle and High school colors. For a more traditional tie, visit www.tiemart.com/gala. Be sure and enter the coupon code "GALA20" for 20 percent off.

IS THERE A UNIFORM FOR THE DANCE ELECTIVE?:
The dance elective is by audition only. Please do not buy any dance attire until your student is in the dance elective. The dance elective wears all black during classtime and dance attire is at the discretion of the teacher.

IF MY DAUGHTER IS ON ONE OF THE HIGH SCHOOL CIF SPORTS TEAM, HOW DO I GET THE UNIFORM?:
High School CIF sports are provided uniforms for free to wear during their season. They must be returned at the end of the season. Check with your coach for more information.

WHAT IF MY DAUGHTER DOESN'T LIKE UNIFORMS?
If you do not already wear uniforms, there may be an adjustment period. If you already wear uniforms, this is a piece of cake. Each GALA girl signs a uniform policy when they sign up for GALA and families are expected to adhere to that policy throughout the year. Please do not buy gray jeans, gray stretch pants, cargo pants, or any pants/bottoms that are not approved. Your daughter will be asked to have you bring her the correct pants. If you bought a hoodie in the PE room, they must wear the polo under the hoodie at all times. Not abiding by the uniform code means teachers have to take time out of their academic day to address any non-compliance.
